Our Story
Shello and Welcome to The “Minne” MN MerCon,
where the weather outside may be frightful,
but the party inside is so delightful!
Mid - winter can feel like it lasts forever,
and many of us midwestern mers struggle with lack of access
to sunshine and water and…...well........dopamine……..
So we thought we would throw a party
to give us all something to look forward to
and shell-ebrate during the colder season(s)!!!
At first, we were just looking for a space and place for us to gather as a community,
but things just kept flowing and now..., well, here we are a full year later!
It's amazing what can happen when people come together as a community.
I can't wait to "sea" what we can do together this year!
Just because we grew in size doesn't mean we changed our focus though,
and it's important to know that if you plan on coming to "Minne" MerCon. Our focus was, and still IS, on building safe space within the community for people to come learn, grow, and try new things in a supportive and safe way.
So, we invite you to come join us for a weekend filled with:
open mermaid swims,
engaging seminars,
spe-shell guests
and other social events like the larger coastal mercons,
just on a slightly smaller (and more local!)……scale!
We know some things are a little different than other cons,
and we think that worked out really well for everyone in 2024.
We already have big plans in the works for 2025,
when we plan to expand and build on what we started this year...but for now,
we hope you SEA that while we may be "minnie" in size,
we put a large part of our hearts into making something for our community.
"Minne" MerCon 2024, 2025 and MNMerCon are the result of the collaborative effort
of the Minnesota MerFolk Pod & OMPA Arts.
We're a small, volunteer based team,
dedicated to creating safe and inclusive spaces
for mermaid enthusiasts of all ages, stages, and abilities.
Please feel free to check out more about our team below,
visit our F.A.Q. if you want to learn more,
or contact us if you have further questions.
Otherwise, please feel welcome to explore the website
and we hope to see you at the event!
